Effective Classified Advertising Checklist

Advertising can be a lucrative form of marketing (whether it's on newspaper or on free classified sites) if it's done right. Mostly mistakes made in numerous ads is using the company name as the headline instead of using targeted  keyword - keep in mind the company name is not going to grab the eyeballs of the scanning reader or classified visitor. That's why always target the headline of your ad towards the potential customer's interests. You can always include your name at the bottom of the ad by the phone number.   • Does your headline target your potential customer with a benefit or question statement?
  • Have you made a special offer in your classified advertising?
  • Have you included a call to action at the bottom of your ad?
  • Are your contact details included i.e. website, phone, contact person etc.?
  • Have you indicated your mode of payment i.e. accept credit cards, checks or not?
  • If using graphics are they relevant to your advertising?
  • Are you content size & style are similar? Typeface size must not be lower than 09pt?
  • Do you have a method in place to measure response to your ad?
  • Have you found out the deadline for submitting and expiring of your ad to the newspaper or classified site?
  • Have you spell checked your ad contents?
  • Using image/s can be made more effective your classified ad whether on newspaper or free classified sites.  use following images formats: GIF , JPG , TIF , PNG .
